Bianca Balti talks about "no" at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show: when refusal becomes a message for women (and more)

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is back with the images of wings, lights and colors that have made fashion fans dream for years. On stage, a beautiful "angel" in a show that seeks to celebrate the rebirth of the brand and a more accessible and inclusive beauty.

However, one of the most beloved Italian models was missing: Bianca Balti. The top model, who was one of those "angels" in the past, spoke of his absence in a long reflection, explaining that he had sent his application to participate in the fashion show and was not selected.

Bianca Baletti, letter to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

The return of the Victoria's Secret fashion show brought back to the catwalks something that we have loved unconditionally for years: that universe of feathers, music and dreams that has riveted millions of people to the screens.

But the real difference from the past is brought in the vision: Victoria's Secret wanted to write a new chapter, stories and real beauty that can no longer be measured by a yard.

And it was this change that forced Bianca Ballt to present herself on the show. After years of work, two daughters, and a very hard way, a very hard example, her style of being a woman today could also have its place, among the wings that once represented the best.

"Last week I did something daring. I contacted Victoria's Secret and offered to walk in this year's show," Bianca wrote about the application.

Bianca then explained in a letter to the brand what prompted her to give it another try:“In recent years, I have witnessed a beautiful transformation of your brand – a true commitment to diversity and inclusion. I have also seen women of all sizes, ethnicities, genders and ages featured in your campaigns and shows.”

A desire without ambition, but born of a deep conviction: that participation means making all women visible, even those who carry the vulnerability and strength of illness.

"I'm not the youngest, the shortest or the fittest. But I'm strong, brave and alive - and I'm still sexy.

"Putting me in this period will not be just a personal dream."You send no less than a woman. You are not perfect. You are a minor. You are ineffective.'

Becca Barts, the answer to Victoria's Secret is no

Then Victoria's answer was answered, but without a happy ending. The book called Bianca of the request and explained that the casting of the show had already been explained.A simple "no", which made a bold statement, had a message beyond the nomination.

Bianca chose to say without filters, with the same transparency as his letter: "I made this brave move because, since I became ill, I felt the responsibility to bring hope not only for women with cancer, but for everyone who learns to live again after problems. I tried. I didn't try. But I didn't regret it."

Words that speak of a different maturity, far from catwalk arguments, closer to real life. For Bianca, the experience of the disease changed everything: the relationship with the body, beauty and the way of speaking: "Cancer taught me that life is too short not to try, and trying never kills."

And then, with the same feeling that she requested, Bianca spoke about the brand again: "And Victoria's Secret, don't worry, I didn't take it personally when the women came out. But it's not too late."

"The number is growing every year, and the women you sell to are the same women who have been diagnosed with gynecological cancer. We are your audience. We are your customers. We are your sisters, mothers and daughters. And we will be very proud to represent ourselves: brave, beautiful and alive."
